It is an archipelago comprising nine islands off the coast of the Wilayat of Seeb and the Wilayat of Barka (Al Kharabah, Al Hayut, Al Jabal Al Kabir, Al Jabal Al Saghir, Al Malha, Al Lumiyah, Qasma, Al Jun, and Awlad Jun). The reserve's boundaries also include rocks and shallow waters extending 16-18 kilometers from the coast extending from Seeb to Barka. The reserve covers an area of 203 square kilometers. These islands are characterized by their pristine nature and beautiful, picturesque landscapes, which qualify them to become a natural museum. The Daymaniyat Islands are considered a wonderful protected area of national and regional importance, and are an important regional and international center for the reproduction of countless migratory and resident bird species, where seabirds nest in high densities. They are unique in the nesting of the osprey (Pandion haliaetus) and are characterized by the presence of many species of coral and diverse coral reef fish. These islands are home to large numbers of sand turtles, which nest and lay eggs, adding global importance to these islands as a haven for these critically endangered species. Green turtles also visit them in the summer to nest.
